Resumen

El desempeño empresarial debe evaluarse con el fin de medir el logro de los objetivos de una organización. La industria lechera ha dirigido sus esfuerzos al desarrollo tecnológico y la productividad, pero requiere consolidarse en términos organizacionales y de gestión empresarial si precisa enfrentar los retos derivados del libre comercio. Por tanto, se quiso dar respuesta a la pregunta de investigación: ¿cómo son las relaciones estructurales entre los factores determinantes del desempeño empresarial de la industria lechera colombiana? Se analizó información de 236 negocios lecheros en el norte del departamento de Antioquia, Colombia, mediante un modelo de ecuaciones estructurales. Además, se calcularon los valores predichos para el desempeño empresarial y las variables que lo conforman. Según los hallazgos, el sector lechero requiere incrementar su desempeño empresarial, el cual está determinado, principalmente, por la eficiencia en los procesos y la productividad empresarial.

Abstract

This paper addresses the relationship between the functioning of the board of directors and organizational performance from an analysis of perceptions. The objective is to determine if there is a relationship between the perception of the operation of the board of directors and the perception of the influence of the board on organizational performance (economic performance, family unit and work environment). For this, logistic regression models are applied in a sample of 123 members of the board of directors in family businesses. The perception of the functioning of the board of directors has been related to the perception of the influence of the board of directors on economic performance, the family unit and the work environment.
